Welcome to Nice Sipper
Stellum Bourbon “Lyra”
Stellum is a newer label created by the folks behind Barrell Craft Spirits, blending whiskeys from IN, KY, and TN. You would have to ask them about their strategy, but it seems they want to add a more consistent staple product at a lower price point than the unique batch release strategy of the sister business.
Clonakilty Single Batch Double Oak Finished
I started seeing Clonakilty bottles more and more at stores over the past year and I finally picked up a bottle of the Clonakilty Single Batch Double Oak Finished (Batch No. 017 to be exact) a month or so ago. For those that care, the liquor store had a tasting table and the very nice gentleman representing Clonakilty let me try three expressions, the aforementioned Double Oak, the Single Grain and (I think) the Port Finished. For what it's worth, I liked the Double Oak the best of the three.
Old Forester 1920 Prohibition Style Old label vs. New label Showdown
For this review, I'll be comparing two versions of Old Forester 1920 Prohibition Style bourbon. Old Forester recently rebranded a lot of its bottles and it was rumored that the juice inside the bottle changed as well. To give credit where credit is due, I came across this "rumor" on a video review by @bourbonjunkies who have a great YouTube channel. If you're interested in some video reviews/content, I highly recommend it. I won't tell you their verdict, you'll have to watch for yourself.
Aberlour 16 Year Old
Aberlour is another distillery in the Speyside region. The Aberlour 16 Double Cask Matured is a single malt expression made from distillate that was aged for at least 16 years in ex-Bourbon casks and at least 16 years in Sherry butts. The barrels selected for this bottling are then married together. The brand has refreshed the packaging and my bottle might be the old label (I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm mistaken)
BenRiach “The Smokey Twelve”
This was my first BenRiach...the Smoky Twelve is a Speyside single malt made from both peated and unpeated malted barley and matured for a minimum of 12 years in Bourbon, Sherry and Marsala wine casks
