Rating Methodology
How to interpret Nice Sipper’s rating system
I'll be giving each of the whiskeys (and other booze here and there) a rating from 1 to 5 🥃's based on the following:
1x 🥃 = I don't like this at all and/or not worth the cost by a mile.
2x 🥃🥃 = This is "meh" and/or slightly overpriced.
3x 🥃🥃🥃 = This is good stuff and/or the price is right.
4x 🥃🥃🥃🥃 = This is wonderful and I'm always keeping it in stock especially at this price.
5x 🥃🥃🥃🥃🥃 = This is amazing and/or this is way underpriced for the quality of the experience.
I ask you to keep in mind that Nice Sipper ratings are not solely based on how good the whiskey tastes. This would be much easier to do as a lot of affordable good whiskeys would just be a 🥃🥃🥃 and all the limited releases, expensive bottles, and other collector’s items would likely be 🥃🥃🥃🥃 or 🥃🥃🥃🥃🥃.
Where’s the fun in that?
While I love me some great exclusive whiskey, I absolutely LOVE finding great whiskeys at affordable prices, what I would call “undervalued whiskey” especially in today’s market where prices seem to be rising on a weekly basis. I firmly believe that these whiskeys should be celebrated so I will bump up their rating based on their price point compared to their peers. Conversely, I will also bump down a rating on a perfect fine whiskey if the experience doesn’t support the price point.
